Kiyomi Mikuni

Owner and Chef of HOTEL DE MIKUNI

1954 Trained to be a chef at Sapporo Grand Hotel and Imperial Hotel from the age of 15.
1974 Employed as head chef at the Japanese Embassy in Switzerland. In addition to his work at the embassy, he studied under Fredy Girardet.
After this, he continued training at three-star restaurants such as TROISGROIS, Auberge de l'Ile, L’oasis and Alain Chapel before returning to Japan in 1982. In 1985, he opened HOTEL DE MIKUNI in Yotsuya, Tokyo.
2000 Worked as Grand Chef at the ministerial conference of the Fukuoka Kyushu-Okinawa Summit.
2007 Held the sixth Mikuni Fair at Le Normandie, a French restaurant at top Bangkok hotel Manarin Oriental Bangkok.
Recognized as a “Contemporary Master Craftsman”, an honor given to distinguished craftspeople by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
2010 The “Feast of the Century” gala dinner was held to celebrate the designation of French cuisine as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Mikuni represented Japan as the Grand Chef of the dinner. He is currently involved in activities to promote education on healthy eating for children and the Slow Food effort.

Owner and Chef of Trattoria/Pizzeria Terzina

1961 Born in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Began training at Rondino (Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture).
1991 Traveled to Italy and worked in Rome and Venice for a year and a half.
1993 After returning to Japan, he became a chef at TAVERNA La Piazza (Sapporo, Hokkaido).
1998 Opened his own restaurant, Trattoria/Pizzeria Terzina, in Sapporo.
2004 Moved to Sapporo Factory, where he became known as Hokkaido’s top Italian chef and trained many chefs.

Yoshitomo Miyamoto

Grand Chef of FRATELLO DI MIKUNI

1980 Born in Miyagi Prefecture
While working as a chef at La Vita, an Italian restaurant in Yotsuya, he caught the attention of Chef Mikuni, who frequently visited the restaurant. He was selected as a chef for the Kamikawa project.
Miyamoto moved to Kamikawa Town with his family. After a year of showing his skills at Terzina in Sapporo, he spearheaded FRATELLO DI MIKUNI as the opening chef.
